Editorial Policy
Our goal is to publish the most accurate, honest, and useful electrolyte drink coverage available anywhere. This page documents how we do that.
How we pick what to review
We review products that our audience is already searching for — based on Google Search Console data, Reddit discussions, and reader requests. We don’t review products sent to us unsolicited by brands, and receiving a free sample never guarantees coverage.
How we test
Every product in our coverage goes through the same process:
- Ingredient analysis — we read the full label, cross-reference against USP standards, verify any third-party testing claims
- Real-world testing — a minimum 30-day test with at least 2 panelists drinking the product daily
- Blind taste panel — for flavor reviews, at least 4 panelists score each flavor without knowing the brand
- Price verification — subscription and one-time pricing checked on the brand’s official site within 7 days of publication
- Competitor comparison — every product is compared to at least 3 peer products across sodium, potassium, sugar, and price
Fact-checking
Every claim about ingredient quantity, pricing, or safety is verified against:
- Official product labels
- Brand websites
- FDA regulatory databases where applicable
- Peer-reviewed research (for scientific claims)
- NIH / WHO / AAP guidelines (for health recommendations)
Editorial review
Articles covering safety, health conditions, pregnancy, children, or medical guidance are reviewed by our editorial team, before publication. Our medical reviewer:
- Has direct, hands-on experience with the products reviewed
- Does not receive compensation based on affiliate earnings
- Has final authority to require corrections or changes to factual claims
- Reviews articles within 3 business days of submission
Updates and corrections
- Reviews are refreshed quarterly — pricing, ingredient changes, and new customer feedback are integrated every 90 days
- Corrections are transparent — if we get something wrong and update it, we note the correction at the bottom of the article with the date
- Reader-reported errors — we respond within 2 business days and update within 24 hours when the error is confirmed
Affiliate disclosure and independence
We use affiliate links. We earn commissions on some purchases. See our full affiliate disclosure.
What affiliate relationships do NOT change:
- Which products we cover
- Where products rank in our guides
- Whether we call out flaws in products that pay us
- Which coupon codes we verify and publish
What affiliate relationships DO affect:
- We’re more likely to reach out to brands whose affiliate programs we can join (it lets us fund testing)
- We prioritize publishing coupon codes for brands whose programs track reliably
- Our analytics let us track which links drive revenue, but we don’t adjust rankings based on that data
Sources we don’t use
- Unverified social media posts as fact sources
- Brand-provided survey data without independent corroboration
- AI-generated content without human expert review
- Sponsored research without disclosure
Contributor standards
Our writers must disclose:
- Any financial relationship with brands they write about
- Personal use of products they review
- Professional certifications that qualify them to make health-related statements
Our writers may not:
- Accept free product in exchange for promised positive coverage
- Invest in any brand they actively cover
- Write for competing review sites simultaneously
